OPTICAL TRANSCEIVERS

Picolight offers a family 1-10 Gbps serial transceivers and 15-40 Gbps parallel optics modules based on proprietary 850nm and 1310nm VCSEL technology. Typically used to link network elements over distances ranging from a few meters to as much as 80 kilometers, Picolight products consume low power, produce low EMI and offer monitoring capabilities via embedded digital diagnostics. As an experienced VCSEL pioneer, Picolight’s transceivers offer industry-leading quality, innovative packaging, highest reliability and excellent performance at all data rates. Picolight transceivers are market proven with several million devices already deployed in optical systems powering enterprise LAN/SAN and service provider networks worldwide.

Key Features of Parallel Optics Modules

15-40G Parallel Optics Modules

Picolight parallel optics modules enable very short reach line card to line card, module to module or shelf to shelf connectivity for high-end routers, optical and storage switches deployed in high performance metro computing and switch environments. These modules are compliant to the SNAP12 MSA which was formed around Picolight's 100 pin BGA connectorized parallel optical modules and is adopted by the leading systems OEMs for chassis intra-connect. Picolight SNAP 12 modules transmit or receive data through an array of 12 lasers or 12 detectors aligned in an MTP/MPO connector. The module pairs are connected through widely available 12-element fiber ribbon cable. These parallel modules transport a large amount of bandwidth on low power and EMI budgets. Key features of Picolight’s SNAP 12 parallel optics modules include:
